Camp Overview

The Team Driven summer camps began as a one week project and have now become a multi-tiered summer camp program featuring three progressive levels.

Each level is a separate one week camp. At each level students get the oppurtunity to build a robot to compete in a friendly competition that mimics the FIRST model. Students also participate in team building activities, and snack time to encourage participants to get to know one another. At the begining of the week, students watch a game animation and are given a packet of rules for the game. From that point on, it is up to their creativity and when needed the help of Team Driven mentors to create their robot.

Level 1:
4th through 6th graders.
Dates for 2011: June 6-10; June 13-17; June 20-24; June 27-July 1

The Level 1 camp is an introduction to robotics and the VEX system. This camp is primarily focused on building a sturdy robot to complete the task.
This first camp also gives students a sample of the many aspects of a FIRST robotics team. Some of these include building a team identity, designing a team flier, creating a website, and learning about other aspects of Team Driven like our animation team and our CAD (Computer Aided Design) team.

Level 2:
4th through 7th graders.
Dates for 2011: July 11-15; July 18-22

The Level 2 camp is an introduction to programming. This camp is primarily focused on programming the VEX robot. Students build a simple robot and work mainly on creating the software to make it drive by itselt. This Level 2 challenge will feature an obstacle for which teams can use an assortment of available sensors and techniques to overcome. It is strongly recommended that Level 1 be completed before Level 2.

Level 3:
5th through 7th graders
Dates for 2011: July 25-29

The third and last level combines both disciplines from Level 1 and Level 2 camps. This game will require a more advanced mechanical device as well as more complex programming to successfully accomplish the given task. It is highly recommended that the student complete Level 1 and Level 2 before attempting this camp.
